Get to know Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the second largest island in the Canary archipelago, has a total of 122,629 inhabitants and its capital is Puerto del Rosario. The island along with its marine habitat was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

According to the Köppen climate classification, the island can be classified as a hot desert climate, in summer temperatures hover around 27 ° C and in winter 20 ° C.

According to historians, Fuerteventura was already populated before King Juba II of Mauritania in 40 B.C. He took the initiative to increase the population of these islands. In 1,402, with the permission of King Henry III of Castile, Jean De Bethencourt and Gadifer de la Salle began the conquest of the archipelago, but it was not until 1404 when they achieved their first settlement in Fuerteventura. At that time the island was divided into the Maxorata and Jandía kingdoms, divided by a great wall, whose fragment is currently known as La Pared de Jandía. Finally, the island was conquered in 1,405.

Fuerteventura is known for its beautiful white sand beaches and its unique landscapes due to its volcanic origin. These beaches include Cofete beach, the Great Beaches, Sotavento, La Concha, Costa Calma, Gran Tarajal, Esquinzo and Solana del Matorral, which is the most visited beach by tourists. The island is also famous among water sports enthusiasts with a board, and is the host of the world windsurfing champion.

In Puerto del Rosario, very close to the Town Hall and the courts, the Unamuno House-Museum is located very close to our apartments scattered around the capital, some of which are located next to the Maritime Port, from where the boats leave for the Isla de Lobos, and others next to the circulation, near the Playa Blanca.

Other places close to our apartments are the Natural Park and the Corralejo Marina, the Buenaventura Castle.

A curious fact is that in Fuerteventura there are four of the eight species of sea turtle in the world, as we can see it is a unique place full of life that you cannot miss.
